JDM Traditional Japanese Car Honda Legend

The Honda Legend is a luxury sedan with a 3-number specification equipped with Honda's first V-type 6-cylinder engine.

The origin of the car name means "legend". It was named with the hope that its quality and car-building philosophy will be handed down as a legend of Honda cars from now on.

The 1st generation appeared in 1985 as Honda's first luxury sedan with a 3 number car. It was developed jointly with British Leyland in the UK, and there were British specifications sold under the Rover brand and North American specifications sold under the Acura brand. The car model has a sedan and a coupe.

In 1990, the 2nd generation appeared. While following the basic concept of pursuing a premium feel, the FF mid-ship system was adopted to improve steering stability, and further enhancements were made in terms of safety and comfort equipment. A 4-door sedan and a 2-door coupe are available as body types. Styling adopts a design that emphasizes both wide and low, and pursues aerodynamic characteristics. The engine is equipped with a newly developed 3.2L V6 SOHC24 valve 215ps for all models.

In 1996, the 3rd generation appeared. The previous 2-door coupe was abolished, leaving only a 4-door sedan. The styling strongly inherited the image of the previous Legend. The engine has expanded from 3.2L to 3.5L with a V6 SOHC24 215ps. As with the previous Legend, the transmission is a combination of only a 4-speed AT.

In 2004, the 4th generation appeared. The drive system has been changed from FF to the world's first 4-wheel drive power control system "SH-AWD" to improve steering stability. In addition, the powertrain has been renewed to improve power performance and add various safety and comfort equipment.

The engine has been reduced in size and weight and has been converted to VTEC, resulting in a large increase in maximum output to 300ps. The transmission has also been revamped, adopting a 5-speed AT with paddle shifters. It was also a big feature that safety equipment such as a rear-end collision mitigation brake and "AFS" that illuminates the direction of travel when turning were standard equipment.

Unfortunately, in 2012, the Legend was once discontinued with this model.

In 2015, the model that was released overseas was also sold in Japan, and it was revived for the first time in two and a half years. Everything has been refreshed from the predecessor model, and power performance, fuel efficiency, and safety performance have been improved.

The styling has changed to a modern design with a more elegant body line and unique "jewel eye LED headlights" while retaining the image of the previous generation. As for the powertrain, the domestic specification is set only for hybrids, and the newly designed "SPORT HYBRID SH-AWD" is adopted. The output generates 382ps that surpasses the previous model.

As for safety equipment, it is equipped with "Honda SENSING" and the world's first pedestrian collision avoidance system "Pedestrian Accident Reduction Steering". For 2021, the Legend with the “Honda SENSING Elite” has been added. In addition to the Honda SENSING function, the system has added the "In-lane driving support function with hands-off function" and "Traffic jam pilot" that support level 3 autonomous driving. It was the first model in the world to put Level 3 automated driving into practical use during congestion on highways.

Unfortunately, the Legend was discontinued in January 2022, ending its 37-year history.
