JDM Traditional Japanese Car Nissan March

March was born in October 1982 as a global standard car that boasts high popularity both in Japan and overseas. It features a compact and easy-to-handle body size, and a simple yet easy-to-use design.

The origin of the car name is the English march, marching song, and was decided from a large-scale public recruitment campaign. The name evokes an image of light and rhythmic driving. Also, in Europe, the name of the March is not used, and it is sold under the car name of "Micra". It comes from the plural of micron, which is the English word for a very small unit of length.

The first model appeared in 1982. The 1st generation was a compact hatchback model with excellent economy, a body size that was easy to handle, and a sophisticated design. Initially, it was only a 3-door model, but the grades gradually increased, including a 5-door model. There is a wide range of lineups such as canvas top, "R" for motor sports, "Super Turbo" equipped with two types of superchargers, "Colette" for female users, and "Pumps" with 7 seat colors. The powertrain is equipped with an in-line 4-cylinder 987cc with an electronic carburetor specification, and the transmission has a 5-speed MT, a 4-speed AT, and a 3-speed AT. Due to the influence of the March Cup, a one-make race, and the addition of turbo models, there were many appearances of March in the motor sports scene. In addition, it was also a model that became active in rally participation in Japan and overseas. Derived models such as "Be-1", "Pao", and "Figaro" have appeared and are still popular today.

The 2nd generation appeared in 1992. The exterior has changed significantly from the first model. With a stable low center of gravity and roundness, it was a timeless body design that was conscious of a wider range of people. Equipped with Nissan's first continuously variable transmission CVT, it was a model that achieved both light and agile driving and fuel efficiency.

The 3rd generation March was launched in 2002. Inheriting the ease of handling of its predecessor, the exterior was characterized by a friendly and unique body design such as a frog-like funny face and a variety of body colors. In 2003, the hot model 12SR was introduced by Autech Japan.

The 4th generation was launched in July 2010. The exterior is based on the predecessor model, but features a more stylish and sophisticated design. The interior was a modern console design with many soft curved surfaces.

The powertrain adopted a 1.2L in-line 3-cylinder engine equipped with an idling stop mechanism. Combined with the new-generation Xtronic CVT, it boasts nimble driving in the mid-low speed range and top-level fuel efficiency and environmental performance in its class. In addition, the previous production bases in Japan and the UK were transferred to Mexico, Thailand, India, and China, and production was carried out to meet the various needs of the world.

Unfortunately, production for Japan in Thailand ended at the end of August 2022, ending the 40-year history in Japan.
