The Forester is a mid-class crossover SUV manufactured and sold by SUBARU.

The name Forester comes from the English words "forest dweller," "forest nurturing person," and "forest animal." It seems that it was named as a new generation SUV that proposes a lifestyle for people who love nature and is friendly to the natural environment.

The first Forester was introduced in 1997.
The exterior featured a separate bonnet and blister-shaped front and rear fenders.
The powertrain was initially only a turbocharged engine with a 2.0L horizontally opposed intercooler, but later 2.0L NA and 2.5L NA models were added.
It also featured Subaru's first SRS side airbags (front seats).

In 2002, the second generation Forester appeared.
The exterior is a model that maintains the concept of the first generation and enhances the ease of driving by reducing weight.
In terms of the powertrain, the maximum output of the turbo engine has dropped slightly, but the torque characteristics have been revised, making it easier to handle in city driving.

In 2007, the third generation appeared.
The car is taller than its predecessor, giving it a more crossover SUV look and feel, making it a pure SUV. The body size is slightly larger than the second generation.

In 2012, the fourth generation Forester was introduced.
The exterior has a powerful SUV design. It is also a model that won the Good Design Award in 2013.
MT vehicles have increased from 5th to 6th gears with a short stroke, and AT vehicles have CVT "Lineartronic". Lineartronic AT cars are equipped with "X-MODE" and "Hill Descent Control" to improve rough road driving performance. In addition, a grade equipped with the driving support system "EyeSight (Ver.2)" as standard was also set.

In 2018, the current 5th generation Forester was launched.
Based on Subaru's common design philosophy of "DYNAMIC x SOLID," the exterior design expresses the presence, strength, and functionality of an SUV. The body size has slightly increased in length, width and wheelbase.
Forester's first hybrid model "e-BOXER" was set.
"e-BOXER" is a hybrid that combines a horizontally opposed 4-cylinder 2.0 L direct injection engine with an "MA1" type motor.
In terms of safety equipment, in addition to EyeSight (ver.3), EyeSight Touring Assist is standard on all models. In 2018, it won the Good Design Award again following its predecessor. In addition, a 1.8-liter turbo model was added to the minor change in 2020.
