JDM Traditional Japanese Car Nissan Cima
Introduced in 1988, the Cima is a premium sedan that ranks higher than the luxury sedan Cedric / Gloria.
The origin of the car name is Spanish, which means "top / completion".
The first Cima, which debuted in January 1988, was based on the Cedric / Gloria platform and adopted a 3.0L V6 turbo engine, which was very popular due to the timeliness of being in the middle of the bubble.
The first-generation Cima has a sleek, rounded design, but on the other hand, it does not have the luxury of kinetic performance that shows strong acceleration and the supple ride quality of the electronically controlled air suspension. It was a model that presented new values.
The second-generation Cima was introduced in 1991 and is equipped with a 4,130㏄ naturally aspirated engine "VH41DE" V8 DOHC engine with an expanded engine to compete with the Toyota Crown V8.
In addition, in the minor change in 1993, the same "VG30DET type" V-type 6-cylinder DOHC turbo-equipped model as the predecessor was added.
A hydraulic active suspension was adopted for the suspension, and the interior was a model with a higher degree of luxury and sophistication, such as the addition of genuine leather interior and interior lighting.
The third generation Cima appeared in 1996, changing the image of the front mask from the past, and it has a somewhat German design design compared to the first and second generation, which was somewhat British.
The 41LV-Z grade, which was added in 1999, is also characterized by being equipped with the "inter-vehicle automatic control system (using millimeter-wave radar sensor)" that has the first automatic braking function for Japanese cars.
This was an important model that could be said to be the cornerstone of Nissan's current driving assistance technology.
The 4th generation Cima appeared in 2001, and the V8 specification headlights adopted the characteristic headlamps, commonly known as "Vulcan heads", in which a small projector lamp was placed in the center and six were arranged so as to surround it.It was also the first model in Japan to use a door mirror turn signal.
The design has become more German, and the engine is equipped with the VQ30DET type V6DOHC 2,987cc turbo engine and Nissan's first direct injection V8 engine, the VK45DD type V8DOHC direct injection 4,494cc engine.
The driving support function has evolved further, and it was the first time in the world to set the lane keep support system as an option.
The final model appeared in 2012.
It was a model that inherited the excellent livability unique to flagship sedans, such as the "overwhelming driving performance" that is a feature of successive models. It has an elegant exterior with a large plated front grille, a dynamic front mask with plated decoration, and a long wheelbase over 3000 mm.
In addition, in the power unit, the V8 engine that was installed so far has been abolished, and the VQ35HR type hybrid engine that is installed in the Fuga Hybrid is installed.
The transmission has been multi-staged with 7AT. The fuel efficiency is 16.6km / L in JC08 mode, which is unprecedentedly low fuel consumption.
The Cima, a luxury sedan that once dominated the world, is difficult to regain its momentum now that SUVs are in full swing, and unfortunately, production is scheduled to end in the summer of 2022.
