DAIHATSU has announced that it will release a partially improved version of the ・スgCOPEN・スh, a sports K-Car convertible car.
At the same time, the "COPEN GR SPORT" sold by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will be partially improved.
This partial improvement of COPEN is in compliance with the new regulations, and the area of the side mirrors has been expanded to ensure a wider rear view. In addition, automatic lighting is standard equipment on all grades.
There is no change from the conventional type except for the change of the side mirror and the standard equipment of automatic lighting.
The theme of the current COPEN is "impressive driving performance" and "a car that can express your own personality."It is a sports K-Car convertible car that adopts the new skeleton structure "D-Frame" and the interior and exterior detachable structure "DRESS-FORMATION".
Four models are available: "Robe", "XPLAY", "Cero" and "GR SPORT".
Of these, the COPEN GR SPORT is the first K-Car standard 2-seater convertible sports model in the sports car series "GR" developed by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing.
GR SPORT will be an OEM supply vehicle to TOYOTA, utilizing the experience and knowledge that TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has cultivated through motor sports activities in development.
To open the roof of COPEN, remove the two hooks on the left and right, and the roof is automatically retracted to the trunk by operating a switch. The time is about 20 seconds.
The trunk room also provides space for a 9-inch golf bag with the roof closed. The trunk hood has an easy closer and closes automatically when pressed lightly.
The engine of COPEN is a straight-three DOHC turbo engine of 0.66L for all cars, and the drive system is the FF system with a transverse layout. The transmission has a 5-speed MT and a CVT, and the CVT comes with a 7-speed manual mode.
COPEN GR SPORT is a fine-tuned version of the body and chassis. The engine and transmission remain normal, and the suspension and design are mainly upgraded.
The interior is decorated with carbon and piano black paint on each part.
In addition, the exclusive MOMO leather-wrapped steering wheel is decorated with the "GR" logo.
The backrest of the RECARO sports seat is embroidered with the "GR" logo, and the non-slip suede-like skin and the design with a built-in support wire at the shoulder opening realize high holdability.
Neither grade is equipped with Smart Assist.
At present, COPEN is not equipped with any kind of advanced safety equipment.
At the time of COPEN debut, advanced safety equipment was not yet widespread, so it seems that it is not a structure that can be easily retrofitted, and only one car has fallen behind in DAIHATSU's mini vehicle lineup.
Let's drive with the Convertible sports car, which is now the only K-car.
