In April, Lexus began domestic sales of the LEXUS GX550.
Positioned between the “LX” and “RX” in Lexus’s SUV lineup, the LEXUS GX550 is developed under the concept of “The Premium Off-roader.”
The exterior design of the LEXUS GX550 embodies “a design that pursues proportions and uniqueness rooted in functional essence and dynamic performance.” It features a square silhouette, prominently flared fenders, and a front face that reflects its off-road image through a “spindle expression.”

Inside, the LEXUS GX550 adopts the “Tazuna Concept” cockpit philosophy, which aims to create an intuitive connection between car and driver, allowing greater focus on driving operations. The interior offers a comfortable and modern space with excellent visibility and operability. A simple, horizontally oriented design dominates the cabin, and a 14-inch display framed in synthetic leather is positioned low to ensure good visibility during off-road driving.
The LEXUS GX550 is offered in two grades: the 5-seater “OVERTRAIL+” and the 7-seater “version L.”
The 5-seater “OVERTRAIL+” features a dedicated exterior design tailored to outdoor lifestyles and interior and exterior color schemes that evoke a spirit of adventure. It is equipped with E-KDSS for balancing off-road and on-road performance at a high level, as well as brake control technologies such as Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control, along with a Multi-Terrain Monitor. Specially designed seats are also included to reduce passenger fatigue.
The 7-seater “version L” features 22-inch forged aluminum wheels with 12 straight and parallel spokes that emphasize the large-diameter tires, and auto power-retractable steps that combine ease of entry/exit with stylish design. Optional features include a dimmable panoramic roof and electric shades, adding to its luxurious appeal.
The LEXUS GX550 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo “V35A-FTS” engine, delivering a maximum output of 353 PS and a peak torque of 650 N·m. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission featuring a low range, and all models come with four-wheel drive.
