Toyota has implemented minor updates to the gasoline and hybrid (HEV) versions of the Alphard and Vellfire, launching the updated models in January 2025. In addition, a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV, six-seater) and the Alphard Spacious Lounge have been newly added and released.
The Alphard is a large LL-class minivan manufactured and sold by Toyota. The first-generation Alphard debuted in May 2002, and the current model is the fourth generation, launched in 2023. Meanwhile, the Vellfire, a sibling model to the Alphard, was introduced in May 2008 and is now in its third generation.
In the minor updates to the gasoline and HEV versions of both the Alphard and Vellfire, a digital rearview mirror equipped with front and rear dash cameras has been made standard on all models. The JBL Premium Sound System (with 15 speakers) and a 14-inch rear seat entertainment system have now been made available on the Z and Z Premier grades as well, further enhancing interior comfort. Additionally, the Vellfire now offers a new exclusive body color, Precious Metal, emphasizing its aggressive styling—bringing the total to three available colors.
The Alphard HEV lineup has also been expanded to include an eight-seater X grade. The newly introduced PHEV versions of both the Alphard and Vellfire offer improved quietness and ride comfort, thanks to a low center of gravity made possible by installing a large-capacity lithium-ion battery under the floor. This contributes to a more stable and comfortable driving experience. Moreover, the air conditioning can operate solely on electric power, allowing for a quiet and comfortable environment during chauffeur use without needing to start the engine—also making it environmentally friendly.

The Alphard Spacious Lounge is a four-seater model based on the Executive Lounge grade and modified by Toyota Auto Body to further enhance its value as a chauffeur-driven vehicle. It comes equipped with features such as a detachable clothes hanger and a refrigerator, elevating it further as a premium chauffeur car.
The Alphard's grade structure includes the Executive Lounge for the PHEV version; Executive Lounge, Z, and X for the hybrid version; and Z for the gasoline version. For the Vellfire, the PHEV is available in the Executive Lounge grade, the hybrid in Executive Lounge and Z Premier, and the gasoline model in Z Premier.
In terms of powertrains, the Alphard is available with a 2.5L plug-in hybrid, hybrid, and gasoline engine, while the Vellfire's gasoline model is equipped with a turbocharged engine.
