On December 5, 2024, Subaru unveiled a new 2.5L strong hybrid variant of the CROSSTREK, equipped with the e-BOXER system. This addition joins the existing 2.0L mild hybrid models, offering customers a more powerful and efficient option. The new strong hybrid variant is available in two trims: "Premium S:HEV" and "Premium S:HEV EX," both exclusively with AWD.

The CROSSTREK’s strong hybrid system uses a series-parallel configuration, intelligently switching between engine and motor based on driving conditions for maximum efficiency. It features a newly developed 2.5-liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine, producing 160 PS at 5600 rpm and 209 Nm of torque between 4000–4400 rpm. The hybrid system integrates two motors (for driving and power generation) and the front differential into a compact transaxle unit, optimizing performance and space.
This new strong hybrid model will be sold alongside the existing mild hybrid e-BOXER variants, positioned as a higher-grade offering within the CROSSTREK lineup.

On the exterior, the CROSSTREK e-BOXER strong hybrid features 18-inch aluminum wheels with a dark metallic finish and machined highlights. A roof spoiler houses an integrated LED high-mount stop lamp, and the rear windows and quarter glass come with UV-protective dark tint as standard. The LED rear fog lamp is embedded in the lower right side of the rear bumper. The "e-BOXER" badge on the tailgate maintains the same text as other variants, but uses a distinct font and finish exclusive to the strong hybrid model.

Inside, the cabin features Blaze Gunmetal accents for a refined look. The top-tier EX grade includes EyeSight X, Subaru's advanced driver assist suite, which features hands-off assist in traffic jams, active lane change assist, and driver emergency support functions. A 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster is also standard, and gray leather seats are available as an option.

Due to the hybrid battery, cargo space is slightly reduced compared to the mild hybrid model—279 liters vs. 315 liters—as the load floor is raised by 20mm. An AC 100V outlet (1500W) for powering appliances is available as part of an optional package with the leather seats.
