On November 21, 2024, Mitsuoka Motor unveiled its new model, the M55 Zero Edition.

The M55 Zero Edition is a production model based on the M55 Concept, a concept car created to commemorate Mitsuoka’s 55th anniversary. The M55 was developed with a main target audience of those who, like the company itself, have lived 55 years since its founding in 1968. The car is designed to embody the spirit of a generation that grew up with the vibrant dreams and hopes of the 1970s, a time of great energy and transformation. It captures the nostalgic mindset of people who raced through that era, full of imagination and ambition.

The Zero Edition is a limited-run special model, with only 100 units to be produced and sold by lottery.

The base vehicle for the M55 Zero Edition is the Honda Civic 5-door hatchback, which has been completely reworked with Mitsuoka’s signature styling both inside and out. The design incorporates elements reminiscent of iconic GT cars from the 1970s, featuring quad round headlights, a front lip spoiler, and a ducktail-style rear, creating a bold and retro presence.

Inside, the M55 draws inspiration from the classic "Hakosuka" Skyline, with full leather upholstery throughout, including the rear seats and seatbacks, finished with eyelet detailing. As a dealer option, dry carbon panels are available for the dashboard, door trims, and gear shifter area, adding a modern contrast to the vintage atmosphere.

The M55 Zero Edition comes with a single powertrain configuration: a 1.5-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It is offered exclusively in Legendary Gray Metallic as the sole body color.

Looking ahead, Mitsuoka plans to continue expanding the M55 series beyond 2026. In addition to this pure gasoline, manual-transmission model, the brand is considering the introduction of CVT and hybrid variants, as well as a sportier version based on the Civic RS.

The future of the M55 series certainly looks exciting.
