The first-generation RAV4 debuted in 1994, and the current model is the fifth generation, having undergone multiple redesigns and upgrades in both design and performance.
The latest updates to the RAV4 focus on compliance with new regulations, including electrical safety measures such as shock prevention.
For the X grade, previously optional features have now been made standard, including the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Parking Support Brake (rear cross-traffic alert), and footwell illumination for the door mirrors. Meanwhile, the Adventure, G "Z package", G, and Z grades now come standard with the 10.5-inch Display Audio system (Connected Navigation Plus), a previously popular manufacturer option.

The Blind Spot Monitor uses radar to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes, particularly in areas not easily visible in the side mirrors. It monitors up to approximately 60 meters behind the vehicle. If a vehicle rapidly approaches from behind, the system alerts the driver via an LED indicator in the door mirror, which flashes when the turn signal is activated.
The Parking Support Brake (rear cross-traffic alert) detects vehicles approaching from the rear sides when reversing out of parking spaces. The system alerts the driver with flashing indicators and a buzzer. If a collision risk is detected, the system automatically applies the brakes to help reduce damage.
Also now standard on X grade gasoline and hybrid models is door mirror footwell lighting, enhancing nighttime visibility when entering or exiting the vehicle.
Additionally, the 2WD front-wheel-drive version, previously offered only in the X grade, has been discontinued, making all RAV4 models now 4WD only.
For hybrid models, when the optional AC 100V/1500W accessory power outlet (with emergency power supply system) is selected, an external power supply attachment is now included as standard. This allows power cords to pass outside the vehicle without opening doors or windows, preventing insects or rain from entering the cabin.
Other updates include replacing the blue accent on the Toyota emblem, introducing the "Beyond Zero" badge, and changing the material of the optional spare tire from aluminum to steel.
Why not take a drive in the newly enhanced and even safer Toyota RAV4?
