Daihatsu has introduced minor updates to the TAFT and released the revised model.
The Daihatsu TAFT made its debut as an off-road vehicle in 1974. The name "TAFT" originally stood for "Tough & Almighty Four-wheel Touring vehicle," emphasizing its versatility as a four-wheel-drive car. However, with the latest generation, the meaning has been updated to "Tough & Almighty Fun Tool," reflecting its role as a versatile and enjoyable tool for various lifestyles. The current model was launched on June 10, 2020, as the third installment in the "DNGA" series, following the "Tanto" and "Rocky." DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) prioritizes suspension performance while improving body rigidity and reducing weight through the strategic use of high-tensile materials and structural optimization.
The exterior of the TAFT embraces the concept of "fun for leisure, practical for daily use" with its distinctive "Backpack Style" design. This approach results in a boxy, rugged aesthetic that conveys toughness and strength, emphasizing both adventure and functionality.

Inside, the TAFT offers a playful yet highly functional interior layout, with enhanced storage solutions. The cargo space is equipped with a "Flexible Board" that allows for two height settings. When the rear seatbacks are folded down, it creates a flat and spacious loading area, featuring a durable resin-coated surface to resist dirt and wear. One of the TAFT’s standout features is the large panoramic glass roof, known as the "Sky Feel Top," which comes standard on all models. Currently, the TAFT is the only kei car equipped with a sunroof.
For this update, all models now come equipped with rear corner sensors to improve rear visibility and compliance with the latest regulations. Additional enhancements include a rear corner sensor deactivation switch, an adjustable buzzer volume control, and an indicator on the instrument panel to display sensor status.
The "TAFT G" grade now comes standard with an all-speed adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane-keeping control (LKC). Additionally, a rear seat reminder, designed to prevent forgotten belongings in the back seats, is now available as an optional feature.
New body color options have been introduced, including "Ceramic Green Metallic," the bold "Chrome Gray Metallic," and the striking "Laser Blue Crystal Shine."
Further enhancements include improved convenience features, such as a 9-inch smartphone-compatible display audio system with voice recognition and wireless connectivity. Additionally, optimized engine control has led to improved fuel efficiency.
Why not take a drive in the Daihatsu TAFT, now with enhanced safety and convenience?
