Daihatsu has made partial updates to the "Mira e:S" and will release the updated model nationwide starting October 1.

The Mira e:S is a sedan-style kei car developed by Daihatsu, focusing on the essence of kei cars: "low fuel consumption and low cost." The first-generation Mira e:S debuted in September 2011 as a "third eco-car" emphasizing low fuel consumption, affordability, and resource conservation. The current model, introduced in 2017, is the second generation.

Building upon the high economic efficiency of its predecessor, the second-generation model also addresses the contemporary kei car user's priorities of "attention to detail, safety, and quality." While maintaining excellent fuel efficiency, the model improves driving performance and comfort. It includes the "Smart Assist III" driver assistance system across all grades, offering additional appeal beyond just low fuel consumption and cost.

The Mira e:S exterior features a simple, no-frills design, while the interior offers a clean and calming space with a horizontally oriented dashboard, a well-organized instrument panel with dual-layered storage spaces, and centrally grouped control switches.

The car incorporates "e:S Technology," which includes innovations like cooled i-EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), delayed intake valve closure, dual injectors, cylinder-by-cylinder combustion control, and a CVT thermo controller. These technologies achieve an excellent balance between fuel efficiency and adequate driving performance.

In this partial update, Daihatsu has enhanced the safety features of the Smart Assist III system by adding rear corner sensors, improving visibility when reversing. The Smart Assist system recognizes the surroundings of the vehicle and supports safe driving by warning the driver of potential dangers and applying emergency braking if necessary. In addition to sonar sensors, the system employs stereo cameras, enabling braking not only for vehicles ahead but also for pedestrians. This enhancement broadens the safety and peace of mind offered by kei cars, all while maintaining affordability.

Additionally, the grade lineup has been streamlined to feature only Smart Assist-equipped models. The lineup now includes four variants: B “SA III,” L “SA III,” X “SA III,” and G “SA III.”

All models of the Mira e:S are equipped with a 0.66L naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT. Both FF and 4WD drivetrain options are available across all grades. There are no changes to the interior and exterior equipment.

Why not go for a drive in the more eco-friendly and safer Mira e:S?
