Toyota LAND CRUISER 250 Arrives

In April 2024, Toyota released the new SUV "LAND CRUISER 250." The Toyota LAND CRUISER 250 is a model that serves as the core of the current LAND CRUISER family, with added ease of handling in addition to its high off-road performance.

In terms of exterior design, the Toyota LAND CRUISER 250 has undergone a reconstruction of its image with the keyword "returning to origins." By blending the toughness cultivated by past LAND CRUISERs with a modern atmosphere, it has achieved a fresh styling. The distinctive front grille creates a tightened face image by consolidating functional parts such as headlights and bumper grilles, and the "TOYOTA" emblem is also placed on the front grille. Additionally, it features two types of headlights: standard square reflector-type 3-beam LED headlights (GX, VX) or projector-type 3-beam LED headlights (ZX) as standard, with the option of round "Bi-Beam LED headlights" available at dealerships. The dimensions of the vehicle are close to the 300 series, with the overall length and height being about 50mm smaller. Other specs are almost identical, making the LAND CRUISER 250 larger than the RAV4 in the Toyota SUV lineup.

In terms of interior design, the Toyota LAND CRUISER 250 offers two seating layouts: a 2-row 5-seater and a 3-row 7-seater. For the latter, the arrangement of the second and third-row seats has been revised to achieve a spacious tandem distance of 951mm. The luggage room capacity is 408 liters with 5 passengers, and features such as electrically retractable 5:5 split floor storage third-row seats and a back door glass hatch are adopted.

Regarding the powertrain, the Toyota LAND CRUISER 250 offers two engine options: gasoline and diesel turbo. It comes with a combination of a 2.8-liter direct-injection diesel turbo engine and an 8-speed AT, or a 2.7-liter gasoline engine and a 6-speed AT. The drive system is a full-time 4WD with low range, equipped with Torque-Sensing LSD in the center differential to optimally control torque distribution between the front and rear according to the situation. Furthermore, both front and rear suspension are newly developed, with the front adopting a high-mount double wishbone type and the rear using a trailing link.

In terms of safety features, the Toyota LAND CRUISER 250 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including "Proactive Driving Assist" which anticipates risks on the road and assists the driver's operation, and "Pre-Collision Safety" which detects not only vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles but also motorcycles (daytime). It adopts the latest preventive safety package "Toyota Safety Sense" in all vehicles.
