On January 17th, Toyota launched a partial upgrade for the YARiS and YARiS CROSS.

The YARiS, released by Toyota in 2020, surpasses the realm of compact cars with its low fuel consumption and the latest safety and security technologies, becoming a new generation compact car. Previously, from its debut in 1999 until its third generation, it was sold under the name "Vitz". However, starting with the fourth generation released in 2020, marking its 20th anniversary, it was unified under the name YARiS, coinciding with its participation in the World Rally Championship as the "YARiS WRC". The full model change aimed to refresh the lineup, leading to the name unification of YARiS even domestically.

On the other hand, the YARiS CROSS is a model based on the YARiS but designed as an SUV.

In the partial upgrade of the YARiS, the exterior underwent changes, notably in the radiator grille design. It transitioned from the previous horizontal emphasis with separate upper/lower sections to a design combining a grid-like pattern and three-dimensional motif across the entire opening. Additionally, the top-tier Z grade now features synthetic leather and tweed fabric for the seat upholstery.

For the YARiS CROSS, the exterior enhancements include a sharper, more three-dimensional pattern for the upper grille of all grades except the "GR Sport", emphasizing its SUV characteristics. Inside, a front soft armrest with a console box was introduced to enhance convenience (excluding X and U grades).

In the common partial upgrades for both the YARiS and YARiS CROSS, a 7.0-inch TFT color multi-information display was added to the meter cluster as standard. The display audio system was updated to the latest version with connected navigation now standard for five years. Additionally, the X grade offers a navigation-ready package. Some interior trim pieces were changed to gunmetallic. A new body color, "Massive Gray", was also added to the lineup.

Regarding powertrains, both the YARiS and YARiS CROSS offer a new-generation hybrid system with a 1.5L inline-three Dynamic Force engine and a 1.5L inline-three Dynamic Force engine, available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.

For safety features, the latest "Toyota Safety Sense" now includes an expanded detection range for pre-collision safety to include vehicles and motorcycles in head-on encounters at intersections.

Why not take a drive in the even more attractive YARiS/YARiS CROSS?
