On December 19th, Toyota released an updated version of the Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) "MIRAI."

"MIRAI" is a sedan-type Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) that made its debut in 2014. Unlike hydrogen-powered vehicles that burn hydrogen, MIRAI generates its own electricity by chemically reacting hydrogen with oxygen from the air, making it an innovative model that Toyota began mass-producing ahead of the world.

The current model, introduced in 2020 as the second generation, has undergone significant evolution with the goal of providing customers with a "future premium car that they would want when they see it, while driving it, and even after they have finished their journey." In terms of driving performance, the optimal layout of the FC system, including the FC stack, drive battery, and hydrogen tank, has achieved an ideal 50:50 front-rear weight distribution. It is based on the highly regarded "GA-L" platform for rear-wheel-drive luxury cars, with various structural enhancements, including rear components, thoroughly reviewed to enhance body rigidity. This pursuit of perfection extends to not only environmental performance but also making it a "fun-to-drive and comfortable car."

Regarding MIRAI's design, it has adopted a beautiful design concept that aims to be selected for its styling, rather than just being an eco-friendly car. The concept is "SILENT DYNAMISM," and the interior is designed to combine the pleasure of driving with a sense of advanced technology and relaxation.

The main improvements in this version of MIRAI include the addition of the latest "Toyota Safety Sense," which includes features such as proactive driving assist that assists in deceleration and steering support when following other vehicles and going around curves, enhancing safety equipment. In addition, advanced driving support functions "Toyota Teammate [Advanced Drive (congestion support)]" and "[Advanced Park (with remote)]" have been added to reduce driving load in high-speed highway congestion conditions and provide safe and secure parking assistance. Inside MIRAI, a 12.3-inch TFT color meter has been adopted to improve visibility, and it is equipped with interior illumination in a choice of 64 colors.

Furthermore, options include a drive recorder and a digital key that allows door locking, unlocking, and engine starting without screen operation if you have a smartphone with a dedicated app.

Why not take a drive with MIRAI, the car of the near future?
