On November 30, 2023, Toyota announced a partial upgrade of the Lexus RZ and introduced a new grade, the "RZ300e," which is now available for sale.

The Lexus RZ made its debut on March 30, 2023, as the first-ever electric vehicle (BEV) exclusively designed for the Lexus brand. It adopted the BEV-exclusive platform (e-TNGA) and achieved a significant improvement in basic vehicle performance by optimizing the placement of batteries and motors, as well as creating a lightweight yet highly rigid body structure.

In terms of the exterior design of the Lexus RZ, it features a distinctive "spindle body," emphasizing the functional advancements of BEVs that don't require cooling for engines and improved aerodynamic performance. The powertrain of the existing RZ450e model includes a front motor with 150 kW/266 Nm and a rear motor with 80 kW/169 Nm, resulting in a total power output of 71.4 kWh. The fully charged range reaches 494 km. Additionally, all models are equipped with the all-wheel-drive system "DIRECT4," which allows for control of power distribution between the front and rear wheels in the range of 100:0 to 0:100, utilizing information from wheel speed sensors, acceleration sensors, and steering angle sensors.

In the recent partial upgrade of the Lexus RZ, it adopted the "Battery Rapid Heating System" to contribute to the improvement of rapid charging speed. The heat transfer path from the floor-mounted heater for air conditioning to the battery has been improved, minimizing heat loss. This enables the rapid increase of battery temperature during cold conditions, reducing the time required for rapid charging.

The newly introduced grade, RZ300e, is a front-wheel-drive model equipped with a single motor delivering a maximum output of 204 PS and a maximum torque of 266 N·m. It shares the same 71.4 kWh battery capacity as the 4WD "RZ450e." The inverter incorporates SiC elements with minimal power loss, resulting in an energy consumption rate of 120 Wh/km in WLTC mode and a single-charge driving range of 599 km. Not only has it adopted a single motor configuration, but it also features newly developed rear suspension components optimized for front-wheel drive, including coil springs, stabilizers, and shock absorbers. This optimization, combined with a 100 kg reduction in vehicle weight compared to the RZ450e, results in agile and linear vehicle behavior.

Regarding safety features, the advanced "Lexus Safety System +" for preventive safety technology is installed in all models. An optional driver monitor can detect distracted driving, enabling the prevention of lane departure and similar incidents at an earlier stage.
