Lexus Introduces New Premium Compact SUV, the New LBX

The Lexus LBX is the latest addition to the Lexus brand's SUV lineup and is positioned as the most compact SUV in the Lexus family. The name "LBX" stands for "Lexus Breakthrough X (cross)-over," signifying a next-generation Lexus model that transcends the traditional size hierarchy and aims to redefine the concept of luxury cars.

The LBX's exterior design is centered around the concept of "Premium Casual," combining a commanding presence and luxury with a compact crossover that feels suitable for everyday casual use. The front face features the all-new "Unified Spindle" grille, which conveys a sense of presence with a low center of gravity.

The rear design is characterized by a single-character rear combination lamp, emphasizing the muscularity and dynamism of the fenders. The LBX is available in a range of nine colors, including "Sonic Chrome" and "Sonic Copper," with the option of two-tone colors to enhance its modern and sporty appeal, contrasting with a black cabin.

Inside the LBX, a horizontal-themed instrument panel creates a sense of unity throughout the cabin. The 9.8-inch center display extends seamlessly into the console, enhancing the feeling of integration. The meter panel features a large 12.3-inch full liquid crystal display, providing ample information to the driver. Lowering the driver's seating position has helped maintain sufficient interior space while keeping the overall height and center of gravity low.

The Lexus LBX will exclusively feature a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.5-liter inline-three gasoline engine. It offers both front-wheel-drive (FF) with a front motor and four-wheel-drive (4WD) with an independent rear motor. The battery, a high-output bipolar nickel-hydrogen unit, significantly enhances electric-assist responsiveness, providing a quick and "electrically rich" acceleration experience with minimal delay.

In terms of safety features, the Lexus LBX comes equipped with the latest preventive safety features based on a human-centric approach, known as the Lexus Safety System+. It includes proactive driving assistance that offers appropriate operational support based on driving conditions and optimal control based on driver monitoring. The available functions include proactive driving assistance, optional pre-crash safety, radar cruise control (with full-speed tracking capability), lane departure alert, and a driver abnormality response system.

Additionally, the LBX offers Over The Air (OTA) updates, ensuring that its software is always up-to-date.
