The Lexus LM is a luxury MPV under the Lexus brand. The new LM represents the second generation and aims to create a premium and comfortable travel environment where all occupants can relax naturally.
The first-generation LM made its debut in 2020, based on the Toyota Alphard, but elevated to a higher level of luxury. It not only offered a 7-passenger configuration but also introduced a 4-passenger version by eliminating the third-row seats to provide a spacious and luxurious interior, redefining the concept of a luxury minivan.
In terms of the new LM's exterior design, it features a dynamic and elegant form, incorporating the Lexus signature "spindle body" design element. The front grille matches the body color, creating a seamless look by minimizing the gaps between surrounding components. Additionally, the body size remains the same with a 3000mm wheelbase, but the overall length has been extended by 85mm, and the width has been increased by 40mm compared to its predecessor.
The interior of the new LM emphasizes meticulous craftsmanship based on a human-centric approach, creating an ambiance reminiscent of a luxurious living space. The cockpit area is designed following the "Tazuna Concept," featuring a 12.3-inch full LCD meter in the head-up display and a 14.1-inch center display. The seating layout accommodates only 4 passengers in a 2-row configuration, with a partition separating the front and rear seats. The rear area features a large independent seat with a 48-inch widescreen display and a refrigerator capable of storing three 750ml bottles. Additionally, the interior offers 64 customizable ambient lighting colors to match passengers' preferences and moods. The new LM also introduces Lexus' first-ever "Rear Climate Concierge" feature, which integrates control of climate settings, seat positions, sunshades, and lighting. It comes with a detachable "Rear Multi-Operation Panel" for controlling these features.
In terms of powertrain, the new LM features a hybrid system that combines a 2.4-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine with a front motor and a high-output rear motor called "eAxle." The "DIRECT4" system allows for the distribution and control of driving force between the front and rear wheels in a range from 100:0 to 20:80, ensuring optimal driving conditions at all times and improving handling stability and fuel efficiency.
For safety features, the new LM adopts the "Lexus Safety System+" and includes technologies such as pre-crash safety, radar cruise control with all-speed tracking, and more. To prevent accidents during entry and exit, the vehicle is equipped with "Safe Exit Assist (Door Open Control Function)" in both front and rear doors, which cancels door opening when it detects approaching vehicles from behind, including bicycles.
