Suzuki has made some improvements to the "WAGON R" in October 2023.

The WAGON R is a model that plays a central role in Suzuki's compact car series and first debuted in 1993. Its innovative packaging, which increased the overall height and created a square body within the constraints of compact car dimensions, expanded interior space and was a huge success. It later became the standard style for compact cars. The current model is the 6th generation introduced in 2017, and in addition to the WAGON R, a custom version called the WAGON R Stingray was also introduced. It features mild hybrid technology to improve fuel efficiency and advanced driving assistance features like "Dual Sensor Brake Support" to enhance safety.

In August 2022, a minor design change was implemented, introducing the new series WAGON R Custom Z.

In the recent partial upgrade of the WAGON R, some specification changes were made to the CVT models of the WAGON R series to comply with regulations regarding the "rearward vehicle confirmation device." Additionally, a rear parking sensor operation indicator light was added to the meter.

In terms of exterior design, the WAGON R retains its distinctive thick center pillar, and the large front windshield ensures good visibility without any significant changes.

Inside the WAGON R, the dashboard maintains a horizontal layout with air vents, a central display, and meters placed above it, all unchanged in design. Options include a head-up display, and the seats are of the bench type without a partition between the driver and passenger seats, allowing for easy movement.

The seats are primarily black, but beige interior options are available for hybrid models. The rear seats can be folded separately on both sides and can slide back and forth, maintaining convenience.

Furthermore, there's a useful feature allowing wet umbrellas to be stored in the rear door's umbrella holder, with water naturally draining outside the vehicle.

In this partial upgrade, the 5-speed manual transmission (MT) option that was previously available for the WAGON R has been discontinued and removed from Suzuki's official website lineup. CVT models now offer the option of full-time 4WD.

The fate of the improved WAGON R and the availability of the 5-speed MT transmission are certainly points of interest.
