Subaru BRZ "STI Sport" Debuts
Sited from SUBARU
In September 2023, Subaru carried out some modifications on the FR sports car "Subaru BRZ", introducing an "STI Sport" grade equipped with a dedicated suspension tuned by STI.
The BRZ is a pure sports car with a horizontally opposed engine and an FR layout. The current model, announced in July 2021, is the second generation and, like the first-generation model, is a joint development with Toyota Motor Corporation.
In this revision of the BRZ, Subaru has adopted its first "EyeSight" driving support system for MT (Manual Transmission) vehicles. It achieves stable operation in various scenes, aligning collision avoidance, collision damage mitigation, and driving load reduction controls with the characteristics of MT vehicles. Additionally, the VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) has also been optimized.
In the newly introduced STI Sport grade for the BRZ, a dedicated suspension tuned by STI is equipped. By employing a damper setting that extracts lateral force from the inside wheel from the very start of steering, it achieves responsive handling. Also, for the front suspension, a Hitachi Astemo SFRD front damper, tuned by STI, is used, balancing a comfortable ride with agile, sporty driving. Brakes offer a manufacturer option of Brembo 17-inch front & rear ventilated disc brakes with gold calipers.
Moreover, for the exterior of the BRZ STI Sport, the door mirrors and roof antenna are black, and the "BRZ" logo color within the headlamp extension is coordinated in cherry red. A characteristic feature is the adoption of bright, dark metallic 18-inch aluminum wheels. Additionally, "STI" emblems are equipped on the front and rear.
Inside the BRZ STI Sport, seats adopt a combination of burgundy/black ultrasuede and genuine leather, featuring the "STI" logo. Dark cast metallic decorative parts are used around the shifter, heater control dial, and switches, achieving a quality feel appropriate for an "adult's luxurious sports car". The BOXER meter incorporates a burgundy ring decoration and the "STI" logo, and the red-type push engine switch also features the "STI" logo. Additionally, meter visors and door trim shoulder pads feature Brannoeb leather wrapping with red stitching.
The special "STI Sport" certainly seems like a fun-to-drive BRZ.
