Toyota CENTURY has a new model!
In September, Toyota Motor Corporation added the SUV-type CENTURY to its lineup.
The SUV-type CENTURY was developed with the idea of "inheritance and evolution" to meet the diversifying needs for show cars.
The name "CENTURY" is derived from the fact that the year 1967, when the first model was introduce, marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of the Toyota Group.
The exterior of the SUV-type Century features an imposing and dignified body design based on horizontal and vertical lines, a while the sedan-type Century has a flat horizontal base when viewed from the side.
In addition, the headlights and taillights are designe with four deep lamps that give the impression of a dignified gaze, the "Phoenix emblem" has been exquisitely engraved by craftsmen, and the painted surface has been thoroughly polish to a mirror-like finish that brings an overwhelming luster to the body.
The "mirror finish" is the result of the meticulous attention to detail by "Takumi" craftsmen who have mastered the art of craftsmanship.
Another feature of the SUV-type CENTURY is the combination of the door planes with a motif of a "shuttle" of a weaving machine.
The body size is 5205 x 1990 x 1805 mm (overall length x width x height), which is 130 mm shorter in length, 60 mm wider full width, and 300 mm higher in hight than the sedan- type. In addition, although the wheelbase of the SUV model is 140 mm shorter than that of the sedan type, the distance between the front and rear seats is 85 mm wider, allowing passengers in the rear seats to truly feel at home.
The interior of the CENTURY SUV model features fully reclining rear seats for a comfortable interior space, and the audio system onboard provides a comfortable listening space reminiscent of live music. For ease of entry and exit, the rear doors open up to a maximum of 75 degrees, the sweeping floor, auto electrically retractable steps for convenient entry and exit, and large, easy-to-grip assist grips mounted on the center pillar help rear-seat passengers to get in and out of the vehicle naturally and beautifully.
The cockpit is equipped with functions and features that support professional drivers and enhance ease of use.
The Century's SUV-type powertrain is equipped with the latest V6 3.5L plug-in hybrid system, and also features Dynamic Rear Steering, a four-wheel steering system for improved handling stability and smooth lane changes, as well as a "REAR COMFORT" mode that assists with brake control to reduce sway when the vehicle comes to a stop.
