TOYOTA will partially improve JPN TAXI and sell it at TOYOTA and TOYOPET stores nationwide.
The main improvements this time are the improvement of the slope for getting on and off the wheelchair and the safety function.
JPN TAXI was put on the market based on the "JPN TAXI Concept," which is a reference exhibit at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show held in 2013. It was newly released as a successor to COMFORT, which has been sold as a notchback sedan type commercial vehicle for taxis since 1995, and CROWN COMFORT and XS10 series CROWN SEDAN.
It is also the first TOYOTA vehicle to be certified as a vehicle that meets the "universal design taxi" setting requirements set by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
JPN TAXI was developed based on the chassis of SIENTA. Adopting a low-floor / high-ceiling style similar to a minivan, the rear door on the passenger seat side is an electric slide type, allowing you to get on and off while in a wheelchair. By installing auxiliary grips in various parts of the room, it is easier to move from a wheelchair to a seat than a sedan-type vehicle.
Until now, JPN TAXI has been improved this time because it has been pointed out that the installation work of the slope for getting on and off the wheelchair is complicated and time-consuming, and it is difficult in the actual usage situation.
The improvement is to change the slope for getting on and off the wheelchair from the conventional three-fold to two-fold, and for the extension slope, the installation work has been simplified by changing from the folding structure to a single resin plate.
In addition, in order to increase the chances that a single wheelchair slope can be used independently, the length of the slope has been increased from 840 mm to 1,100 mm, and the time required from installing the slope to fixing the wheelchair has been reduced by about 3 minutes.
In addition, we abolished the storage bag that contained slope-related belts, permanently installed pockets on the floor for easy access, and attached labels with installation work procedures to each location to prevent forgetting to work.
Another improvement of JPN TAXI is the addition of a daytime pedestrian detection function to Toyota Safety Sense's pre-crash safety, which contributes to collision avoidance or damage mitigation.
In addition, we have adopted a rear wiper with an intermittent function that can switch the operating speed between Hi and Lo according to the weather.
For convenience, we have reduced the closing time of the power slide door from 6.5 seconds to 5.0 seconds by 1.5 seconds so that customers do not have to wait until the vehicle starts.
In addition, the position of the toll tray has been lowered by 10 cm to make it easier for customers to reach.
JPN TAXI will continue to improve, aiming for a taxi that everyone wants to ride and that is easier for the crew to use.
