New Harrier debut! And, difference from Venza. Roomy/Thor has undergone minor change.
23 Oct 2020
"New Harrier" released on June 18, 2020 and it has been ordered 45,000 in a month of release.
Delivery has been waiting for half a year, making it a true big hit.
And it's available in US started in September 2020 as Venza.
The design of this new Venza is almost the same as the Harrier released the other day in Japan.
The exterior and interior are almost identical in design, making the 2 cars truly siblings of Japan and US.
However, there were slight differences between these cars in the performance department.
In this article, we will consider the difference between the "new Harrier" and the "new Venza".
Let's get into the content!
Differences in Harrier Venza, Part 1
The biggest difference between Harrier and Venza is the drive system.
The Harrier has 2 types of drive systems, and we can choose between a hybrid or a gasoline model.
for Harrier
- FF and 4WD
- 2,500cc Hybrid / 2,000cc Gasoline
for Venza
- E-Four
- 2,500cc Hybrid
As such, drive system of Venza is AWD only, and it is only available as a 2,500cc hybrid.
In Japan, to use way of luxury SUV are divided into those who drive elegantly and those who use them for outdoor activities such as camping.
So, does the Harrier have several options for them?
And the fuel consumption of the same grade of Harrier and Venza is the same as 17 km/l in the catalog.
17 km/l for an SUV can be said to be reasonably fuel efficient.
There is also a difference in price range between Harrier and Venza.
In the Harrier, the price is 2.99 million to 5.04 million JPY, while in the Venza it is 3.44 million to 4.22 million JPY.
In terms of price, the cheapest price of Venza is 3.44 million JPY. And Harrier is 2.99 million JPY. It is a big difference.
However, in the highest grade in Venza is 4.22 million JPY and Harrier is 5.04 million JPY.
There are differences in options and performance, but in terms of price, you can see that there is a big difference between the 2 models.
Differences in Harrier Venza, Part 2
Next, the difference between Harrier and Venza is function.
Venza has a "panoramic glass fixed roof" as Toyota's first attempt.
By pressing on / off button, it is possible to switch from frosted to clear glass within 1 second.
This makes it possible to brighten the interior with sunlight, and at the same time, reduce direct sunlight and realize an open interior.
This function is only available on the Venza and not on the Harrier.
I would have liked to see this function on the Harrier as well....
Reducing direct sunlight and creating a feeling of openness inside the car is a feature that everyone, not just those who use the Harrier for the outdoors, will be happy to have.
After all, I think that the "feeling of openness" is an attractive when riding in a car.
Differences in Harrier Venza, Part 3
The big difference between the new Harrier and the before gen is the emblem.
In previous Harriers, the front emblem was designed as a Circus (Harrier).
Of course, Venza also doesn't have the Circus (Harrier) emblem.
Almost people are probably shocked, it is because we understand that the Circus (Harrier) emblem is Harrier.
However, there is designed Circus (Harrier) on the door panel! The Venza owner is a interested point!!
It didn't have to change the emblem on the front grille if it were going to put it on the door panels. That's what I think...
Differences in Harrier Venza, Summry
I introduced the difference with Harrier and Venza.
There was almost no big difference, and it was confirmed that both models had excellent functions and design.
Harriers have already been waiting for delivery for more than half a year, so I think there will be more opportunities to see many Harriers around next year.
Harrier is such a big hit in Japan, can we expect the Venza to be a big hit in US as well?
